The Cursed Possession of Mad Blood (more known as the Curse of Extinction) is the bane of existence in the Ryuketsu Clan that led to its extinction.
History[]
As blood represents and sustains life of all living organisms on Earth, the powers that come with the Blood Release are overwhelming and inherently unsuitable to be wielded by a human body. It was only through the fusion of the life force of the Blood God with forefather Riku Ōtsutsuki that enabled and granted the Ryuketsu Clan the necessary spiritual strength and chakra to inherit the Blood Release.
By the grace and unerring genes of Yuu Ryuketsu, early individuals of the Ryuketsu Clan enjoyed the gifts of Blood Release without its burdensome parts for many centuries. No one feared nor felt tempted to unlock the bolts that reigned back the dangerous qualities of the Release. But due to the dilution of Yuu’s genes as a result of marriages with outsiders, with the growing bitterness and vengeance of the Blood God; overtime the meshes inevitably weakened and shattered upon Atsushi’s sacrifice.
The event led to more and more Ryuketsu shinobi to lose control and be enslaved to blood rage, turning them demonic and what is known as blood monsters.
Activation[]
- Although this state is largely involuntary, it can be done by choice like Atsushi.
- Similar to the Mangekyō Sharingan, traumatic events and emotions are able to set off this state.
- Gestation is a peculiar trigger of the Cursed Possession of Mad Blood, so much so that pregnant Ryuketsu women are treated as ticking time-bombs, as evident by the treatment Shizuku underwent (similar to Mito Uzumaki) whilst giving birth to her daughter, Misaki.
- Using the Blood Release in itself (depending on frequency and level of scale) unavoidably brings the user closer and closer to this state.
Abilities[]
Feared worse than a tailed beast gone out of control, the Cursed Possession of Mad Blood is undefeatable. It’s irreversible status has never and not once been able to be challenged in clan history, leading to the heartbreaking but unquestionable ‘put-down’ rule for all blood monsters who no longer recognize anything but the insatiable desire to commit slaughter. It is the leading cause of death for the Ryuketsu Clan and other unfortunate, innocent bystanders such as during Konoha’s Blood Pond Hell.
The ability model of the Cursed Possession of Mad Blood draws upon many parallels with the Jinchūriki's chakra form mode.
- The power of a Ryuketsu possessed by mad blood is made worse by the original existing ninja abilities of the individual.
- All existing Blood Release abilities are amplified, intensified and escalated to an exponential height in this state.
- The Cursed Possession of Mad Blood supplies the individual with monstrous chakra reserves that are automatically replenished with each kill.
- This state only grows stronger and gets magnified by death and bloodbath.
Trivia[]
